Exempla Vitae is illustrated life or a life illustrated or illustrations from life. Exempla were the anecdotal illustrations used by the frontier preachers before the turn of the century. Of which are still employed by some pastors to this day.
I cannot abandon my love of narrative and humor even as I am doing watercolor paintings. I still have romantic ideas about being an illustrator and cartoonist.
Narrative is still part of my painting process, even if is just a couple of trees.
I was going to put a play on words for this site, but it does not fit for where I am going at this time: Elucidate, Illuminate, Illustrate.
For the painter a story makes the practice worth it.
